Reflecting on an Excellent 2018-2019 Academic Year

Tierney Mason

Executive Managing Editor

Loyola University Chicago School of Law, J.D. Candidate 2019

We are coming up on the end of the 2018-2019 academic year and, for myself and my fellow 3Ls, graduation! I want to take this opportunity to thank the members of our journal, our authors, our faculty advisers, and our readers for their continued support.

The Journal of Regulatory Compliance is still fresh on campus and we are working harder every year towards making a name for ourselves. Our associate and senior editors collectively wrote well over 100 blog posts this year, all related to compliance. Having edited or read many of these posts, I am incredibly impressed with the dedication our editors brought to the blog this year. Our Inside Compliance blog is an excellent tool and a unique element to our journal that we are very proud of and hope to maintain for years to come.

This past February we held our annual symposium, titled “Compliance, Ethics, and Enterprise Risk Management: A Dialogue,” which was incredibly well-attended and a complete success. Thank you to our speakers for their time and generous effort into presenting at the symposium and thank you also to our Marketing & Symposium Editor, Richard Shepherd, for organizing the symposium and making the day easy on everyone!

Last, but not least, thank you SO much to our Publication Editor, Sara Oakes, for all her efforts this year to edit and publish our online Journal of Regulatory Compliance issues. Our issue for 2018 was published and we are wrapping up the editing process for our 2019 issue. All issues of our journal can be found here. This year was the first year that we included all our associate and senior editors in the editing process, and Sara and I were both so impressed at their responsiveness and dedication to our journal. We hope to continue utilizing their talents in the future and promoting our journal in the compliance field.

I am incredibly proud to be a part of this journal and to have served as Managing Editor for the past year. I am also proud to welcome our incoming board below, I am confident the journal will be in great hands with them!
