Join us on Wednesday, November 11, from 5:30 to 6:45 pm, in Room 1202, Lewis Towers for an Information Session about:

  • Presentations at the 2016 IASWG Symposium in New York City
  • SOWK 662: Professional Development Course

The meeting will provide an overview for the process of submitting abstracts to present at the International Association of Social Work with Groups (IASWG) Symposium in NYC, June 15-18, 2016. It will address the following topics:

  • Benefits of presenting
  • What is it like at the Symposium?
  • How to select a topic to present
  • What is involved in preparing and submitting an abstract to present?
  • Cost
  • Timeline and important dates
  • Mentoring, resources, and supports available
  • Overview and connection to SOWK 662: Professional Development Class
  • Networking opportunity with other participants.

Praxis the SSW Journal is looking for papers

Do you think your final paper was spectacular? Would you like to see it published in a Journal? Well, here is your chance to do just that. The LUC SSW Journal Praxis (Where Reflection & Practice Meet) is looking for papers for it’s next issue. Send in your papers NOW!

CALL FOR PAPERS!

 PRAXIS, the student-published journal of the School of Social Work, is accepting manuscript submissions for publication. Theoretical, research, self-reflective and critical manuscripts will be considered. Any topic can be accepted, including, but not limited to, the following:

  •  Children and Families
  • Criminal Justice
  • Health
  • Human Trafficking
  • Immigration
  • International Issues
  • Public Policy
  • Mental Health
  • Substance Abuse
  • Veteran Issues

Submission Guidelines

  • Papers do not need to include original research – final papers submitted for class will be considered for publication.
  • No more than twenty pages (including references).
  • Submitted as a Microsoft Word document file (.doc or .docx).
  • Double spaced, Times New Roman 12 point font, one inch margins, and APA format.
  • Make sure all identifying information, including contact information, appears only on the cover page.
  • BSW, MSW, and PhD. students and alumni are invited to submit.

Submission Deadlines

Email your paper to Sam Foist Swart, sswart@luc.edu, Editor-in-Chief. Include “Praxis Submission” in the subject line of the email. Submissions are due by Friday, December 18th at Midnight.
