A Canvas Waiting To Be Painted
A blog, a blank canvas waiting to be painted with stanzas that reflect on my experience in the classroom. A blog, a new beginning and new words appearing from within me.
Jesuit values are my banner and American culture is my dream. Living the American dream at a Jesuit university and following in the footsteps of my parents has always been my goal. My parents chose the best education they could give me, the Jesuit one. βMen and women for othersβ they told me from a young age.
Over the years my vision became clearer and clearer: to be a person first, to learn to be different and not to be afraid of new experiences. Over time I have realized that being surrounded by people with different mentalities will enrich me. I realized that, βThose who do not live to serve, do not serve to liveβ as Pope Francisce said.
In 2022, my great dream came true. I was given the opportunity to study in the United States. I had in my hands what I had always dreamed of, flying from Spain to the United States and start telling the story that my parents had told me since I was little. Now, it is my turn to live the American dream.
In this blog, I will talk about my experience as an international student in an LUC classroom and about how I am living my American dream. Other student writers will talk about strategies instructors use to help them learn. As I think about this blog, I realize how fortunate I am to live and study at this university. That is why the title I chose for the blog is “The LUCky Ones.”
