As the holiday season approaches, it is important to be aware of seasonal scams and cyber campaigns. These campaigns include:
- Electronic greeting cards that may contain malware
- Requests for charitable contribution that may be phishing scams
- Screensavers or other forms of media that may contain malware

The UISO encourages you to remember these simple tips to protect yourself from phishing scams and malware:
- Do not follow unsolicited web links in email messages
- Use caution when opening email attachments
- Keep antivirus software up-to-date
- If contributing to a charity, check the Federal Trade Commission’s Charity Checklist before contributing
As always, if you are seeking advice on the legitimacy of a link, email, or otherwise, contact the UISO at datasecurity@luc.edu.
