Keith Green, PhD, MSW, will receive an emerging leader award from the Health & Medicine Policy Research Group at the 40th Anniversary Awards Gala for his significant impact on Public Health. Green has strong community roots and an extensive history as an organizer, educator, researcher, and advocate. His current research agenda is focused primarily on understanding the role of community-based organizations (CBOs) in the antiretroviral-based HIV prevention era as well as the rise in methamphetamine use among Black gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men. He served as an associate editor for Positively Aware magazine and as director of federal affairs for the AIDS Foundation of Chicago. In addition to his professional and academic achievements, Dr. Green is also an award-winning spoken word artist and was inducted into the Chicago LGBT Hall of Fame by Mayor Rahm Emmanuel in 2012. Health & Medicine is an independent policy center that conducts research, educates and collaborates with other groups to advocate policies and impact health systems to improve the health status of all people. The organization’s mission is to promote social justice and challenge inequities in health and health care.
