Congratulations to Christie Mason and Brian Kelly who, along with co-author Virginia McConchie, were recently awarded the 9th Annual Florence W. Vigilante Award for Scholarly Excellence. The award is given in recognition of the best article published in Volume 40 (2020) of the Journal of Teaching in Social Work. The publication, “Including Neuroscience in Social Work Education: Introducing Graduate Students to the Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics”, was specifically recognized for its outstanding scholarship and creativity. Mason and Kelly are Clinical Associate Professor and Associate Professor of Social Work, respectively. McConchie received her PhD in Social Work from Loyola University Chicago and is currently affiliated with BC Children’s and Women’s Hospital and Health Centre in Canada.
Established in 2012, The Florence W. Vigilante Award for scholarly excellence acknowledges the best article published in each volume of the journal and recognizes Vigilante as a pioneer in the field and co-founder of the Journal of Teaching in Social Work. Vigilante served as Editor-in-Chief of the journal for 22 years.
