Loyola Alumni Appointed by Governor Quinn to Serve on the Illinois Children’s Mental Health Partnership
Mary Satchwell (PhD ’13) and Rosario Pesce (PhD ’83, BS ’72) were recently appointed to serve on the Illinois Children’s Mental Health Partnership (ICMHP). The Partnership was established as part of the Children’s Mental Health Act of 2003. The Partnership has the responsibility of developing and monitoring the implementation of the Children’s Mental Health Plan as approved by the Governor. It is a statewide group of agencies, organizations and individuals committed to improving the scope and quality of mental health programs, services and supports for Illinois children and their families, and reducing the stigma associated with mental health issues. The goal is to build a comprehensive, better-coordinated mental health system that provides easier access to more effective programs and services. The Partnership facilitated the development of social emotional learning standards for the Illinois State Board of Education, the first of any sort in the country. Satchwell and Pesce both represent the Illinois School Psychologists Association where they serve on the Governing Board as Membership Committee Co-Chairs. Drs. Satchwell and Pesce are also adjunct faculty in the school psychology program at Loyola.
