This is your blog!
You may be wondering why we’re starting a blog. (After the semester started the webmaster began wondering that, too.) Let us assure you, we have good reasons.
A blog is a convenient way to post announcements and keep track of current events. A blog is more functional than a static website; we can share linked videos, audio, articles, or your original content. A blog is searchable via major search engines, so not only will we be better able to keep track of what philosophers at Loyola are working on, but so will our neighbors. In short, we want to nurture our philosophical community.
In light of that, we invite you to contribute your own announcements, current events, and items of interest. There is no set format or tone for the blog–serious to humorous–we welcome a variety. Here are some things you might want to post about:
- Colloquia
- Publications
- Awards
- Reading Groups
- Local philosophy (and philosophy-related) events
- Porphyry gigs!
You can send posts (or post suggestions) via email. We can publish your post verbatim or, if you send a flyer, link, etc., we can throw a post together for you. Over the next couple of weeks the webmaster will be creating posts from some of the emails circulated recently within the department.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to email the webmaster (Sarah at philosophyatloyolablog@gmail.com). Thanks for coming by to check it out, and we hope you’ll be back soon!
