Dr. Diana Hess from the Spencer Foundation was the speaker for the John M. Wozniak Annual Lecture on February 8. Her talk, The Political Classroom: What Makes Discussion Democratic? raised very important questions for educators to reflect on. Dr. Hess offered several resources that are linked on Dr. Ryan’s (SOE faculty) webpage under Political Science, Economics, and Geography. Check them out.
The International Committee of the School of Education sponsored an International Fair on February 6. Eighty attendees had an opportunity to learn about 10 programs that offer international experiences, degrees. or programs for SOE undergraduate and graduate students. Several current SOE students shared their own personal international experience with the group.
Are you interested in doing something with an international flair? Our fair will have info available on an assortment of opportunities. Ten university units will be present with information on how to:
– Travel Abroad
– Volunteer with Refugees
– Take Classes in International Education
– Be a Bilingual Teacher
– Be a Foreign Language Teacher

The School of Education’s Research Symposium, Community of Scholar will be held on April 21st, 2012 from 8:30am-2pm on the Lake Shore Campus in conjunction with Loyola’s Weekend of Excellence.
