Despite it being fall break and an overcast rainy day, the Showcase drew in attendees across the Loyola user community of faculty, staff, and students, including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.luc.edu\/universityleadership\/leadershipandadministration\/universityleadershipcouncil\/douglaswwoods\/\">Provost Doug Woods<\/a> to kick off the event over coffee and bagels.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-2467\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.luc.edu\/thelearningcurve\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Picture1-300x172.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"736\" height=\"422\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.luc.edu\/thelearningcurve\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Picture1-300x172.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.luc.edu\/thelearningcurve\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Picture1-1024x586.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/blogs.luc.edu\/thelearningcurve\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Picture1-768x439.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blogs.luc.edu\/thelearningcurve\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Picture1-472x270.jpg 472w, https:\/\/blogs.luc.edu\/thelearningcurve\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Picture1.jpg 1166w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 736px) 100vw, 736px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Beginning as a large resource fair of technology vendors in 2018, the Information &amp; Technology Showcase represents the University\u2019s investment in technologies that compose and power the Loyola user experience. Part of sustaining Loyola technologies is through promoting their use and building human relationships with the people behind the tools that help with information technology tasks and processes, from the administrative work of managing records and enrollment data to the academic work of research, teaching, and learning.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After an extended hiatus due to the COVID-19 shutdown and a reception of new University leadership in the Provost and CIO positions, the Showcase reemerged in 2024 as a more interactive event with a conference-style format, with technology vendors highlighting the services available to Loyola users in breakout sessions.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>An Evolving Collaboration<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Following the comeback year, the 2025 Info &amp; Tech Showcase returned with a renewed collaboration between Information Technology Services and University Libraries, headed by Showcase planning committee co-chairs <a href=\"https:\/\/scholars.luc.edu\/en\/persons\/hong-ma\">Hong Ma<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/members.educause.edu\/tim-walker\">Tim Walker<\/a>. Through the rapport cultivated by the planning committee members and our technology vendors, this year\u2019s showcase secured the participation of 33 vendors, a 27.27% increase from 2024.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">New to this year, the Showcase featured special guest LU Wolf, our beloved Loyola mascot.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-2475\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.luc.edu\/thelearningcurve\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Picture2-300x161.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"727\" height=\"390\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.luc.edu\/thelearningcurve\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Picture2-300x161.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.luc.edu\/thelearningcurve\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Picture2-768x413.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blogs.luc.edu\/thelearningcurve\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Picture2-502x270.jpg 502w, https:\/\/blogs.luc.edu\/thelearningcurve\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Picture2.jpg 840w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 727px) 100vw, 727px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong><em>By the Numbers.<\/em><\/strong> Despite a new committee with many members unfamiliar with the Showcase, the planning committee succeeded in setting up 36 resource tables with power stations; breakfast, lunch, and desserts for 300 registrants; designing and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.luc.edu\/its\/dms\/printingposters\/\">printing 8 professional quality posters and hundreds of button pins<\/a>; and carting over 28 boxes of vendor swag and event materials.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-2472\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.luc.edu\/thelearningcurve\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Picture3-300x226.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"727\" height=\"548\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.luc.edu\/thelearningcurve\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Picture3-300x226.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.luc.edu\/thelearningcurve\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Picture3-1024x772.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/blogs.luc.edu\/thelearningcurve\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Picture3-768x579.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blogs.luc.edu\/thelearningcurve\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Picture3-358x270.jpg 358w, https:\/\/blogs.luc.edu\/thelearningcurve\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Picture3.jpg 1430w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 727px) 100vw, 727px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Breaking Out to Learn More<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Showcase schedule featured 23 breakout sessions presented by participating technology vendors and our internal Loyola service representatives, such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.luc.edu\/its\/dms\/\">Digital Media Services<\/a> and eCommons.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-2473\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.luc.edu\/thelearningcurve\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/cin-300x117.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"736\" height=\"287\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.luc.edu\/thelearningcurve\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/cin-300x117.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.luc.edu\/thelearningcurve\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/cin-1024x398.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/blogs.luc.edu\/thelearningcurve\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/cin-768x299.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blogs.luc.edu\/thelearningcurve\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/cin-604x235.jpg 604w, https:\/\/blogs.luc.edu\/thelearningcurve\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/cin.jpg 1430w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 736px) 100vw, 736px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Each breakout session provided our Loyola user community with insights on existing services they can harness in their teaching, learning, and administrative work at the University. Some sessions, such as Gideon Taylor, provided a comparative look between Loyola and other institutions implementing a chatbot for guiding users to necessary forms based on their specific enrollment data. Other presenters facilitated discussions with attendees based on their own use of technologies, such as Turnitin and Piazza.
