Take computer classes. Watch YouTube videos to learn a new skill on the computer (e.g., Excel, Word, etc.)<\/li><li>Take vacations.<\/li><li>When you return from vacation plan another one to anticipate. <\/li><li>Try to change the little things that gnaw at you if you can&#8217;t change the bigger things. <\/li><li>Manage your time wisely.<\/li><li>Learn to prioritize. <\/li><li>Meditate<\/li><li>Have a greenspace in your surroundings. <\/li><li>Take naps. <\/li><li>Eat well. <\/li><li>Read something fun for yourself. <\/li><li>Set realistic goals. <\/li><li>Have regular supervision with your supervisor. <\/li><li>Celebrate interventions that do make a difference. <\/li><li>Recognize small successes. <\/li><li>Develop ways to manage grief as you need to. <\/li><li>Keep work at work. <\/li><li>Set professional and personal boundaries at work.<\/li><li>Take care of yourself; no one else will do it for you.<\/li><li>Take lunch breaks.<\/li><li>Exercise regularly.<\/li><li>Take a walk at lunch.<\/li><li>Delegate if you can.<\/li><li>Keep up social outlets and supports.<\/li><li>Learn to recognize warning signs of stress. <\/li><li>Recognize when a personal disaster, experience, or loss interferes with your effectiveness.<\/li><li>Balance work and home life.<\/li><li>Celebrate the social work profession.<\/li><li>Offer solutions to problems versus negativity.<\/li><li>Laugh A LOT.<\/li><li>Don&#8217;t forget your strengths!<\/li><li>Take time to do the things you enjoy.<\/li><li>Limit your work day.<\/li><li>Do work in smaller chucks.<\/li><li>Rotate from high stress to low stress functions. <\/li><li>Figure out if you are a morning person &#8211; if so do tasks that require more brain power in the morning when you have more energy.<\/li><li><strong>Make self-care a priority<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Self care prevents burnout, reduces the negative effects of stress, helps you refocus and is beneficial for your overall well-being.
