The Task Force was originally created when white gay/bisexual men represented the primary population of crystal meth users. Now, the user population is made up largely of black gay/bisexual men. Dr. Green’s grant is designed to help understand: 1) the scope of the problem; 2) motivations for use; and 3) available treatment resources. The data will be used to develop a “service provider’s toolkit” for working with black gay/bisexual men who use and abuse crystal meth and a white paper. The CDPH has also (unofficially) agreed to support a social marketing campaign based on the data from this project. The next phase of the project will be to secure resources to develop a culturally appropriate intervention(s).

Congratulations Dr. Keith Green, for receiving $100,000 from Gilead Sciences Inc for the “Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) Corporate Grant Award” to support the Crystal CLEAR Chicago program.
