Justice Wore Diamonds

BY MADELINE ANDERSON
Justice wore diamonds to dinner and spoke of the
Common Good.
She danced, laughed, socialized and
Appeared
to balance the expectations of formality
Properly.
She knew the correct answers and held witty
Conversations
That included a majority of the guests to question
About
Their own lack of insight, lack of ability to create
Balance.
Justice appeared to be the perfect woman. She could
Waltz
In a graceful circle that never led my own hand
To
Stumble or Shake. She held up a sense of
Propriety.
Justice came and went quickly to another lover.
She
Wore suit jackets in the morning, rags in the evening and
Spoke
Of contracts, deals, and working with
Minorities.
She no longer wore pearls to dinner.
She became a contradiction.
She,
She wore a Mona Lisa smile.
Justice,
She defended all individuals and
Is
Sitting with the smaller people.
Whatever
Crisis is available is handled with coffee and acoustic guitar.
You
See a hippie woman, in love with
Need
And obsessed with the desire to create a fair world.
Her
Stance withdraws the idea of black and white
To
Allow colors to flourish and the light to shine in.
Be
A saint, a martyr, a chameleon:
That is Justice and oh, how I do love her.
