Eva Mika, Ph.D. joins the SCPS team

On July 1, 2017 Eva Mika, Ph.D. joined the Loyola SCPS team as Clinical Assistant Professor of Applied Psychology.

With over two decades of experience, Eva began her career at Cook County Commission on Women conducting applied research, advocacy, policy development, training and education on host of issues including human trafficking, maternity/paternity leave, domestic violence, pay equity, and gender responsive models in criminal justice.

Eva has been an Adjunct Professor at Loyola since 2003. Loyola’s dedication to social justice resonates with Eva’s core values and is reflected in her teaching philosophy.

Says Eva “The focus of my professional endeavors has included addressing social and organizational problems through systems’s change, applied research, policy and advocacy.  I was inspired to pursue a system’s level approach to helping people by looking beyond traditional psychological approaches that ignore root causes of distress.”

Over the years, Eva has become interested in researching the role that online communication has on the community and it’s ability to create access to education for adult learners who could not obtain degrees without this flexibility.  Her interest aligns perfectly with our vision of providing affordable, flexible, real-world and convenient education to working adults.

Eva says “The School for Continuing and Professional Studies allows me the opportunity to participate in the economic empowerment of adult learners through degree completion.  This is deeply meaningful work and I am blessed to be here!”

We are excited for Eva to join this dynamic team, and add her expertise to help us better serve adult students. Welcome Eva!
