Cyndi Maxey and Nicholas Kourvetaris win the 2016 Excellence in Adult Learning Awards
On January 11, 2017 at the biannual SCPS Faculty Meeting, the winners of the 2016 Excellence in Adult Learning Award were announced. Two faculty members were selected from a total of 28 nominees, chosen by students for their exemplification of Ignatian values.
From the degree completion faculty members it was Cyndi Maxey who took home the trophy, whereas Nicholas (Nick) Kourvetaris captured the award from the Paralegal Studies pool.
Both Nick and Cyndi are Senior Lecturers and have taught Loyola students for over 12 years.
Nick is a partner at the SmithAmundsen law firm and has served as a trusted advisor to a wide range of clients in multiple industries for the last 15 years. Nick is a fearless litigator who has tried 33 jury trials to verdict. Nick teaches Legal Research and Writing I and II for Loyola’s Institute for Paralegal Studies. He is regularly retained to speak on effective legal writing and legal research for the Illinois Paralegal Association’s annual conference.
Cyndi Maxey has been owner of Maxey Creative Inc. since 1989 and is an active member of the Association for Talent Development. She has served on the Board as President of the Illinois chapter of the National Speakers Association. Cyndi is a member of Loyola’s Women’s Advisory Board and teaches the Public Speaking and Critical Thinking, Organizational Communication and Business and Professional Speaking courses at Loyola.
Both Cyndi and Nick are wonderful lecturers, who are described by their students as “kind“, “patient”, “incredibly knowledgeable”, “fun”, “helpful” and “fantastic” to name a few!
