Online Learning at SCPS

Online learning is a great option for busy working adults. In order to make our programs even more convenient and feasible for our students, SCPS is now offering courses in an online format. These courses provide the same, high quality content and are taught by the same, high quality faculty as other SCPS courses. The range of online courses available to SCPS students is increasing and will continue to grow in the coming years.

Online Core courses are now open to SCPS students.  Students can take online courses in Theology, Philosophy, Art, Literature, and History throughout the year. The Core courses currently available are completely asynchronous, meaning that there are no required times when students need to attend live sessions, thereby eliminating any possible scheduling conflicts with work or other courses.

The following online courses are still open for Fall II:

  • ECON 202-5728 (section 700) Principles of Economics II (Macro)
  • CPST 246- 2554 (section 701) Computer Concepts and Applications
  • ENGL 273- 6605 (section 750) Exploring Fiction
  • HIST 203- 6657 (section 751) American Pluralism
  • ENGL 317- 6658 (section 751) The Writing of Poetry
  • PHIL 182- 6690 (section 751) Social and Political Philosophy

This year SCPS is adding online courses to its degree programs and is planning to offer a fully online option for the BA in Management degree starting next fall. The program will allow students to choose the fully online option, the fully on-campus option, or a combination of the two. While we will steadily increase the number of online courses, students will have the flexibility to select the online or on-campus version of a course.

Summer Sessions and the new January Term also include many online courses, which can help SCPS students meet their Core and elective requirements.  As SCPS grows its online programming, more Core and elective courses will be added that serve the needs of its students.

If you are interested in teaching or studying online or would like more information about our online courses and programs, feel free to contact me at jwiden@luc.edu.  I am here to support faculty and students with online learning, and will be holding workshops for both faculty and students throughout the year.
