My name is Ulfath Jameel and I\u2019 have just finished my junior year at Loyola majoring in Psychology. The images in this blog represent one of the projects I have worked on in my Ceramics class, specifically a Hand building Class. This project was called the “Totem” because we had to create our own personal piece that had different levels.<\/p>\n

As you can see, I have 4 levels in my structure. This piece is very important to me because I feel that it reflects myself more than I had imagined. The purpose of this project is that the audience may see something as a literal piece; however it has more meaning to the person who created it. As for myself, I have always loved dolphins ever since I was a little girl. Basketball, which is the 4th level, has also been a part of my life for a long time. It was my favorite hobby by far. The symbols around the cube on the 2nd level represent the countries I have been to within 4 years and have a deeper meaning to me.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Finally, all over the structure I have written Arabic words and names that have some significance to me. I was very inspired by my Arabic class taken with Ustaadha (professor) Sawsan and how beautiful Arabic writing was. I used slip trailing to write all of those words, which was honestly a difficult task. I can say however, it was worth my time.
