{"id":2058,"date":"2015-06-04T13:54:41","date_gmt":"2015-06-04T18:54:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.luc.edu\/ips\/?p=2058"},"modified":"2024-06-20T15:47:50","modified_gmt":"2024-06-20T15:47:50","slug":"faculty-profile-felipe-legarreta-castillo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.luc.edu\/ips\/?p=2058","title":{"rendered":"Faculty Profile: Felipe Legarreta-Castillo"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>IPS has had so much success with the <a href=\"http:\/\/luc.edu\/ips\/academics\/parishleadershipandmanagementprograms\/hispanicministry\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hispanic Ministry<\/a> efforts of our <a href=\"http:\/\/luc.edu\/ips\/academics\/parishleadershipandmanagementprograms\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Parish Leadership and Management Programs<\/a> that we are expanding our efforts. As part of the expansion, we have been fortunate enough to hire\u00a0Felipe Legarreta-Castillo, Ph.D. as the instructor for the Spanish language Bible Study program, which will add other parish ministry\u00a0sites to that currently operating at\u00a0the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Des Plaines.<\/p>\n<p>Legarreta-Castillo has been a student, adjunct faculty member and most recently, a chaplain at Loyola University Chicago. By the time I get to the next page, I forget what I read on the first page.<\/p>\n<p><em>*For those curious, he\u00a0knows: Biblical Hebrew and Greek, Ecclesiastical Latin, Spanish, English, Italian, French and German.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>What about Loyola\u00a0makes you want to continue to be a part of it?<\/strong><br \/>\nIt is a Catholic Jesuit University\u00a0with the highest academic standards\u00a0seeking God in all things to the service of all, especially the underprivileged. AMDG!<\/p>\n<p><strong>What are you looking forward to most about being the instructor for the Spanish Biblical Theology courses?<br \/>\n<\/strong>Transforming peoples and communities through the\u00a0reading, interpretation, proclamation and celebration of God\u2019s salvation as found in\u00a0the Scriptures in order to form\u00a0one Community, the children God.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What previous education or experience has best prepared you for this role?<\/strong><br \/>\nMy studies at Loyola and teaching Bible here in Chicagoland and before in Mexico.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Do you have a mentor(s) or experience(s) in your life that helped shape who you are today?<\/strong><br \/>\nGod\u2019s people, every community I have served and worked with. They have revealed to me God\u2019s love and compassion in a humble and pristine way.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What do you consider your biggest accomplishment so far (personally or professionally)?<\/strong><br \/>\nEvery accomplishment has been simply another step forward in my journey of service and love.
