{"id":1572,"date":"2014-11-12T15:46:03","date_gmt":"2014-11-12T20:46:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.luc.edu\/ips\/?p=1572"},"modified":"2024-06-20T15:46:11","modified_gmt":"2024-06-20T15:46:11","slug":"ips-continues-to-bring-events-to-the-community","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.luc.edu\/ips\/?p=1572","title":{"rendered":"IPS Continues to Bring Events to the Community"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Loyola IPS is busy year-round developing, sponsoring and hosting various events that bolster its mission of\u00a0<span style=\"color: #000000\">educating adults for professional ministry, spiritual development and faith-based leadership.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>On Friday, November 7, IPS hosted its second retreat. The theme of the event was an &#8220;Advent Retreat for Teachers.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>During the retreat, multimedia was used to help teachers access scripture and their own personal faith stories. The event also showcased tools to help educators evoke the same response in their students.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, this retreat\u00a0was used as a day of renewal for professionals who do not always have the time\u00a0to put energy back into their own spirituality and well-being.<\/p>\n<p>Attendees included over 50 elementary, middle school and secondary teachers\u00a0from seven different Catholic schools across the area. \/><\/a>\n\t\t\t<\/div><\/figure>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n<\/div>\n<p>____________________________________<\/p>\n<p>The next day, IPS partnered with the School of Continuing and Professional Studies to sponsor a\u00a0Speakers Bureau Workshop Series event held at St. Donatus Parish.<\/p>\n<p>At the event,\u00a0Dr. Salvador Gut\u00ederrez from GUSSI Coaching talked about &#8220;Managing Results in a Diverse World,&#8221; which included a theoretical lecture and team building exercises on topics like emotional intelligence, working with teams and working jointly with other parishes.<\/p>\n<p>Our goal at IPS is to serve the Church though innovative educational programming delivered around the Archdiocese.\u00a0This event took place in Vicariate VI and was beneficial to the Hispanic community in that area. Parishioners from\u00a0several local parishes attended.<\/p>\n<p>Below are some comments we received from participants about their experience:<\/p>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>&#8220;I am aware that I need to be more patient when taking care of my husband. I will do a conscious effort to improve in this area.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;This exercise affirmed the need to work in team and to recognize the talents of others when ministering to youth.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;Often times, I do not communicate well, especially when\u00a0my emotions are not in place. I know I need to control my temper and think\u00a0about the impact of my words.&#8221;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div>Here are some photos from this successful event:<\/div>\n<div>\n<div id='gallery-2'
