WWE: The Least Talked about Sport

Today’s viewpoint comes from wrestling enthusiast Ariel Conejo:

Last weekend was the biggest of the year for the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) as it hosted Wrestlemania. This meant that the WWE hosted its induction ceremony and also put on the biggest show of the year. This year’s festivities were hosted by California, with the induction ceremony taking place in Los Angeles and everyone’s favorite event in Santa Clara.

The main event was the grandest that the WWE Universe has ever seen, with almost 77,000 people in attendance compared to last year’s crowd total of 71,000. Not to mention the millions of people that were watching at home on Paper View or the WWE network.

This even was not only huge in numbers, but in star power as well. The Rock was in attendance, and for the first time in 16 years Sting made his wrestling debut in the WWE ring since leaving WCW.

However, this staggering success that WWE experienced over the weekend was not enough to hold its stock at a high value, as a number of its 1.3 million subscribers have deleted their account after Wrestlemania wrapped. Yet, they insist that they will continue to grow and market their WWE Network.

Will WWE survive this great amount of loss? Only time will tell, but this college girl will just keep watching Raw and Smackdown for free.
