Reading Week: My EuroTrip

Hiya!

I just realized that I’ve had a saved draft for this blog called ‘Reading Week and a trip to Europe’ for a month now. I best catch up!

In the middle of December, City University as well most other European schools had Reading week, which is the equivalent of Loyola’s fall break. In this time, I took a trip to Madrid, Barcelona, Nice, and Monaco. Spain and France, two of the most dreamy countries in the world gave me good food, my first great cocktail, incomparable wine, the ability to practice my Spanish and some fantastic picturesque backgrounds.

Here are some of my favorite pictures from the trip:

The weather wast mostly beautiful, though I’ve never heard louder thunder claps thanI did this trip. There was a rare rain storm in Barcelona. That dark weather unfortunately carried over to Nice, France. My flight was delayed 18 hours, so long lines, arranging a hotel, late night Italian in an obscure part of Barcelona near the airport, and a second delayed flight later, I made my way to Nice.

It all sounds really terrible, and it felt so annoying and scary in the moment, but we (passengers) found out that Nice’s airport is built on the beach. Nice beaches are made of pebbles. The heavy winds of the storm cause rocks to fly across landing strips, and wind was so strong they didn’t think a flight would make it there.

When you hear something like that you don’t mind delaying a flight!

So it really was a beautiful experience, but I did more touring that night life exploring, which some may argue is a good thing (cough, mom, hi), but as a 20 year old I’m going to work on claiming my moment!
