{"id":2608,"date":"2012-02-28T06:39:36","date_gmt":"2012-02-28T11:39:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.luc.edu\/goglobal\/?p=2608"},"modified":"2012-02-28T06:39:36","modified_gmt":"2012-02-28T11:39:36","slug":"nossa-nossa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.luc.edu\/goglobal\/?p=2608","title":{"rendered":"Nossa, Nossa!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: right\">February 28, 2012<\/p>\n<p><strong>Nossa, Nossa<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Ciao on this gorgeous Tuesday morning!\u00a0 I have so much to tell you about today!\u00a0 Nossa, nossa means wow in Portuguese and is a part of a song that brags the third spot on the Italian music hit list this week.\u00a0 I hear it everywhere and I am not complaining!\u00a0 This title seemed fitting to this blog post because I have seen three of my personal top travel hits in the past few weeks.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_2609\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2609\" style=\"width: 90px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-2609\" href=\"http:\/\/blogs.luc.edu\/goglobal\/uncategorized\/nossa-nossa\/attachment\/2009-09-01-trianon-pie-pizza2\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-2609 \" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.luc.edu\/goglobal\/files\/2012\/02\/2009-09-01-trianon-pie-pizza2-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"90\" height=\"90\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-2609\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Napoli Pizza!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Two weekends ago a few friends and I headed south to Naples for better weather and lots of pizza.\u00a0 We arrived at the train station, took a far too expensive cab ride to our hotel, and instantly went to find some of the famous grub.\u00a0 It was amazing.\u00a0 Naples is the \u201cinventor\u201d of the Margherita Pizza and each restaurant has an old family story to that proves <em>they,<\/em> in fact, are the true originators of pizza.\u00a0 I\u2019ll be honest though; I wasn\u2019t just there for the pizza.\u00a0 A few weekends back I ran into a small luxury vintage dealer at the outlet mall in Rome and noticed that the headquarter storefront was in Naples.\u00a0 I had to find it.\u00a0 Now, I am not sure if I need to call Apple and thank them for my new buns of steel or complain and cry, but my navigation system led me up about a million meters of back alleys and staircases to reach the main fashion street of Naples.\u00a0 The supposed \u201c30 minute\u201d walk took my friend Lauren and I about 3 hours of sweat and climbing.\u00a0 It was so worth it!\u00a0 We shopped, ate, and left the touristy area to see the gorgeous natives of Naples.\u00a0 The next morning, we woke up and took a ferry to Capri!\u00a0 I am in love.\u00a0 The many rocky cliffs in contrast with the foamy sea was a breathtaking scene.\u00a0 Each home boasted a colorful theme of tiles and stucco.\u00a0 I thought I would never see a place more beautiful\u2026<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_2610\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2610\" style=\"width: 90px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-2610\" href=\"http:\/\/blogs.luc.edu\/goglobal\/uncategorized\/nossa-nossa\/attachment\/taorminateatrogreco2\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-2610 \" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.luc.edu\/goglobal\/files\/2012\/02\/TaorminaTeatroGreco2-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"90\" height=\"90\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-2610\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">View of Taormina from the Greek Theater!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Once again, I was wrong.\u00a0 This past weekend I took a school trip down to Sicily.\u00a0 If Sicily isn\u2019t on the \u201ctop ten places to see before you die\u201d list\u2026it should be.\u00a0 I flew into Palermo and stayed at an adorable bed and breakfast.\u00a0 Claudio, the owner, gave my friends and I an amazing breakfast and a ride to the shuttle stop.\u00a0 From there we grabbed the school bus and drove to Agrigento to see the gorgeous ruins of the Greek and Italian people.\u00a0 The sea was so blue and the history was so vivid in the architecture of these ancient men and women.\u00a0 We ate amazing seafood and woke up in the morning to head to Taormina. \u00a0Here is where I truly found the most beautiful city I have ever seen.\u00a0 Tucked away in the cliffs with a view of the Ionian Sea and the volcanic Mount Etna, Taormina is flawless.\u00a0 We visited the Greek theater and ate lunch overlooking the waterfront.\u00a0 Adorable stores, amazing bars, and delicious restaurants fill the windy cobblestone streets of the city.\u00a0 We walked around munching on their famous cannoli and luckily bumped into the festivities of Carnivale in the main square.\u00a0 Costumes, food, drinks, confetti and families filled the streets with excitement!\u00a0 It was the greatest day I could have ever imagined.<\/p>\n<p>I flew back into Rome and remembered once again that I am, in fact, still a student.\u00a0 A week full of midterm exams, papers, and presentations is ahead of me.\u00a0 Luckily I am going to take the advice of the Roman people\u2026as much as you work you should play twice as much.\u00a0 Spring break is just around the corner and play is exactly what I am going to do!\u00a0 Madrid, Alicante, and Barcelona to visit some of my best friends is exactly the kind of trip I need!\u00a0 Viva Espana!<\/p>\n<p>Ciao for now!<\/p>\n<p>Christine<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>February 28, 2012 Nossa, Nossa Ciao on this gorgeous Tuesday morning!\u00a0 I have so much to tell you about today!\u00a0 Nossa, nossa means wow in Portuguese and is a part of a song that brags the third spot on the Italian music hit list this week.\u00a0 I hear it everywhere and I am not complaining!\u00a0 &hellip;
