{"id":2415,"date":"2012-01-31T06:44:07","date_gmt":"2012-01-31T11:44:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.luc.edu\/goglobal\/?p=2415"},"modified":"2012-01-31T06:44:07","modified_gmt":"2012-01-31T11:44:07","slug":"some-like-it-hot","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.luc.edu\/goglobal\/?p=2415","title":{"rendered":"Some Like it Hot"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: right\">January 31, 2012<\/p>\n<p>Ciao!\u00a0 True to schedule I\u2019m writing you on a Tuesday morning procrastinating the impeding homework of the day.\u00a0 But who cares about that part anyway?\u00a0 What is really swimming through my mind this morning is Ferragamo, Gucci, Emilio Pucci, and Prada.\u00a0 Yes, I am in love with Italian fashion history.\u00a0 I have purposely morphed most of my class<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_2416\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2416\" style=\"width: 90px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-2416\" href=\"http:\/\/blogs.luc.edu\/goglobal\/uncategorized\/some-like-it-hot\/attachment\/20111123_marilyn_shoe_500w\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-2416 \" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.luc.edu\/goglobal\/files\/2012\/01\/20111123_marilyn_shoe_500w-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"90\" height=\"90\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-2416\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Ferragamo shoe worn by Marilyn Monroe in Some Like it Hot<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>projects into discovering the effect of fashion on political and social culture and have never had more fun researching.\u00a0 This past weekend I experienced one of the most creative fashion centers of the world\u2026Florence.\u00a0 Leather and fur markets, dreamy department stores, and couture window displays epitomized my trip.\u00a0 Unluckily, or luckily depending on whom you ask (*ahem* dad) I had no credit card with me on this trip.\u00a0 To say the least, I will be going back with Visa in hand, but regardless I was able to scrounge the well worth it 5 Euro to explore the wonders of the Ferragamo Museo.\u00a0 I am inspired.\u00a0 Fascism and its effect on modernist art and innovation in the world of fashion were evident in this beautifully crafted museum.\u00a0 I did not get the chance to check out the brand new Gucci museum though, just giving me one more reason to go back to Florence.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_2417\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2417\" style=\"width: 90px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-2417\" href=\"http:\/\/blogs.luc.edu\/goglobal\/uncategorized\/some-like-it-hot\/attachment\/duomo-florence\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-2417 \" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.luc.edu\/goglobal\/files\/2012\/01\/Duomo-Florence-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"90\" height=\"90\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-2417\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The Duomo in Florence<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>I stared at the majesty of the Duomo in Florence while treating myself to a gelato.\u00a0 It is one of the most aesthetically pleasing buildings I have ever seen.\u00a0 The colors and attention to detail make it a splendid center of town.\u00a0 \u00a0Just beyond the Ferragamo museum, the Arno River and its decadent bridges left me even more in love with Florence.\u00a0\u00a0 The food was true to Italian gusto although I have a guilt ridden secret to share.\u00a0 I did in fact eat dinner at the Hard Rock Caffe in Florence. I know! Awful!
