Fall Break

Fall Break

Every October, Loyola spoils us a little bit and gives us a fall break.  My friends at other schools only get one day off, so we’re awesome in that we get two.  The break was this past Monday and Tuesday. I was excited to have a change in pace and come home to beautiful Kirtland, Ohio.  Here’s a few things I was most excited about.

1. The beautiful landscapes of suburbia.  Yes, Chicago is one of the best places to live, but there’s something comforting about the fall trees in suburbia.  It also helped that I came home right in the middle of fall, when the trees were changing colors.

2. My cute little dog, Marley.  Marley is the friendliest dog- always wants to cuddle, no matter who you are!

3. The cake my family made me.  Unfortunately, I didn’t get a picture of the masterpiece, but my mom bakes me a big chocolate cake for a late birthday celebration.  Delicious.

4. Little League Football.  On the Saturday of fall break, I got to see my little cousin play in his football game.  My other little cousins were there, and it was the perfect fall day of football, hot chocolate, and family.

5. My family, of course! They are the best.  It’s always an adventure coming home because they are super obnoxious and a ton of fun.  Here we are in Rome in front of The Vatican. It was a nice, relaxing fall break, but I’m so glad to be back in Chicago!

Spring Break Checklist!

Spring Break Checklist!

It is spring break, this time away from classes well needed. When I venture home to California, there are always a couple things I must do.

1. In N Out – Double Double, Fries (ANIMAL STYLE) and a  Chocolate Shake. The interesting thing is I really don’t find the food as amazing as people make it sound, it is simply more of a comfort thing. When I take that first bite into my burger I know I am home and my mind goes directly to vacation mode.

2. Golf – There are not too many ways better to reconnect with my father than a round of golf. Playing a round is always a good way for me to start of the break because I know I can win some substantial money from my pops.

3. Climb Mt. Baldy – Only an hour from LA and one of the greatest climbs in the area. Every other year I have gone home to plenty of snow and spent time on the slopes. This year I had to settle with amazing weather and climbing one of the tallest peaks in Southern California.

Home For The Weekend

Home For The Weekend

This past weekend I was able to take a trip home for a few relaxing days. I am not going home for spring break so this was a great opportunity to see my family and catch up with old friends. After only a 2.5 hour Amtrak train ride I was home!

We got a couple inches of fresh snow on Friday and Saturday and with the help of a sunny Sunday it was perfect snowman building conditions. Check out our incredibly tall snowman we built!

Our tall snowman!

Unfortunately, it only took about 30 minutes for the strong wind to knock him over 🙁 I guess I will need to give him more support next time!
