Susie Moskop

Keep Calm and College On

My name is Susie Moskop, and I'm a sophomore journalism/vis-comm double major here at Loyola. I came to Chicago from Peoria, Illinois, which is a town consisting of little more than cornfields and farms. Chicago is my playground, and I jump at every opportunity for a new adventure! I'm very active on campus and in the community. I work with the Loyola Phoenix, volunteer at PAWS Chicago, and much more.

School’s Not Out For the Summer

May 26th, 2013

It’s official– roughly one month until I return to America. Fall is quickly turning into winter, exams are approaching within the next two weeks, souvenir shopping is becoming a norm and the more my program winds down I realize how much I am going to miss this place. It’s a bittersweet feeling though, as my […]

ANZAC Day 2013

ANZAC Day 2013

April 29th, 2013

April 25th, or ANZAC Day (Australian New Zealand Army Corps), is a day of big celebration here in Australia. It is a day to remember the group of armed forces from both Australia and New Zealand who served during WWI. Australian culture is particularly proud of this day– school is cancelled, businesses close early, and all […]

Sydney, Australia

Sydney, Australia

April 17th, 2013

Break part two! Sydney was probably number one on my list of places to visit while studying abroad in Australia. Calling it beautiful is an understatement. When I stepped out of the airport and got my first views of the city, I was instantly reminded of Chicago, which was really comforting to me. The crowds, […]

The Game of Footy

The Game of Footy

March 27th, 2013

Footy – it’s a big deal. I finally got the opportunity to see my first match, as the season here is just starting to kick off. This match was just a scrimmage at my school in preparation for the upcoming games, but it was still great fun. In my opinion, the game resembled something between […]

Orientation week, or o’week as they call it, is more than just getting acquainted with the campus and crowds of new faces, it’s a tradition here at my host school in Australia, Deakin University. Not only is it the last week until summer ends and classes begin, but the week is filled with events, new […]

Hello from Melbourne, Australia

Hello from Melbourne, Australia

March 3rd, 2013

After 31 hours of traveling, I’m finally here! The feeling is incredible. I’ve worked for months making sure I was prepared by reading books, filling out paperwork and visiting advisors. As I stepped out of the airport I knew it was finally time for the pay off! The first and biggest difference I noticed about […]

Finals Breakfast

Finals Breakfast

December 12th, 2012

Yesterday night was the annual Finals Breakfast. It happens on the Tuesday night of every finals week, as a chance for students to take a break from studying and enjoy some free food since there are no exams on Wednesday. Since I have been at Loyola, I have attended every semester, each one equally as […]

Operation Study Abroad

Operation Study Abroad

December 3rd, 2012

During my senior year of high school, I had the opportunity to travel to South Korea for a mission trip where I taught at a local school, visited many popular tourist spots and explored the Korean culture and lifestyle. Through this experience, I learned how much I loved traveling and experiencing different parts of the […]
