First Month of College

First Month of College

As of now, it has been a month since I have started school and what an experience it has been! Especially for a college freshman, you begin the long and exciting transition and adjustment from high school. College overall, molds students to become better people; they learn how to effectively prioritize, organize, and be responsible.
Currently, I believe I am slowly but surely getting used to college life at Loyola University. In the beginning, I was unstable academically and socially; class was structurally different than how I was used to, I didn’t know many people, and I did not know how to wisely make use of my free time. Most freshman I knew were like that too; I wasn’t the only one. As time progressed, things naturally got better as I got adjusted to the schedule and continued to meet fantastic people. Things did improve. I took quizzes and exams and now that I know the format, I know what to expect, what to study for, and seek further help (seeing teachers during office hours and visiting the tutoring center). My study habits will continue to change as I will find better techniques. I usually find myself in focus and high-concentration mode on the 3rd floor of the IC in one of the group study rooms by myself.
Adjusting to a new school will be a challenge that everyone eventually will have to face. Learn from those who have been in that position before and consider their advice. College life can be fantastic and worthwhile, only if you make the best out of it with a positive attitude. You can do it; anyone can.
