BRAVE Offers Remote Resources During COVID

BRAVE (Building Resilience Against Violence Engagement) Program staff are using various methods to make contact with BRAVE students and their families on a weekly basis, including:

  • Virtual engagement with games and activities through Zoom and Kahoot
  • Ongoing contact using Google Phone
  • Individual packets of information/activities sent through the postal service
  • Assure home access to electronic devices via loan from site or through Chicago Public Schools

BRAVE sites are also reaching out to local community entities such as Friends of Lincoln Park, 40 Acres, After School Matters, LUC, and the local Alderman to provide additional resources including food deliveries, tutoring/academic support, and telehealth therapy. Remote check-ins and food deliveries will continue until schools re-open. Survey completion by students will continue pending IRB approval of procedure changes necessitated by the pandemic.
