SOCIAL WORK ADVOCACY DAY
The response has been tremendous for participation in the annual Advocacy Day at the State Capitol in Springfield Illinois on Wednesday, March 2nd. NASW-IL.is the organizing body behind this state-wide event. Over 500 students throughout the state have attended this important day social work advocacy in the past and through Loyola’s initiative plans are nearing completion for another successful event.
The SSW and SSWSO are again taking the lead to organize a charter bus to Springfield. At this writing we have a full bus! Some 28 SSW students, faculty and staff are signed up. Another 6 SSW students will be traveling by car. In addition, our bus will host 18 students from Chicago State University, 4 students from UIC-Jane Addams and 4 undergraduate students from several colleges in the mid west who are currently involved in internships in Chicago through the coordination of the Chicago Center for Urban Life and Study.
We are looking forward to participating in this day of advocacy at this important time in our state’s economic history. More info and reactions from participants upon return.
