SOC Makeover Winners on WGN, in Tribune
Five lucky students won tip-to-toe makeovers as part of the SOC Career Week Fashion event, “Look the Part, Get the Job.” Ellen Warren, Tribune Senior Correspondent and SOC faculty member, went shopping with the students as they traded up from sweatpants to slacks. Read the full story here.
Warren then invited the students to show off their new, career-ready looks on WGN-TV as she shared fashion tips for interviews. Just some of her advice included, “Stay away from easy-to-wrinkle fabrics like linen” to “Add a business case or no-logo tote to complete the look, hold your resume.” Read and watch the full story here.
Caitlyn Schmid, a senior communication studies major who went home from Career Week with a new pantsuit from The Limited, said of the experience, “It helped me portray my personality as a young woman in a big city. With my new suit coat, top and pants, I’ll be ready to impress potential employers.”
