Acting dean named for SCPS
Loyola’s Office of the Provost has announced that Jeffrey Rosen, PhD, has stepped down from his role as dean of the School of Continuing and Professional Studies (SCPS) and is taking a leave of absence through the end of this year. Dr. Rosen will join the faculty of the Department of Fine and Performing Arts in January 2012 as an associate professor of fine arts.
Dr. Rosen has served as the dean since 2006. Under his leadership, the school developed new programs for adult students, including the BA in Managerial Arts and Leadership. He launched the continuing education program, Continuum, offering dozens of non-credit courses for the Chicago community. He also created new programs in allied health professions, offering new major programs of study for undergraduates at Loyola University’s Medical Center. He also was responsible for the Pre-Collegiate Summer Scholars program that provides opportunities for high school students to experience college learning through course work in Chicago and Rome. Please join the Provost’s office in thanking Dr. Rosen for his leadership and curricular innovations.
Janet Deatherage, PhD, now serves as the acting dean of SCPS. Dr. Deatherage joined the school in 2006 as associate dean and has taken on many levels of responsibility for its academic programs. She also established the women’s leadership initiative during her time as associate dean. Let’s welcome Dr. Deatherage in her role.
