Welcome
Welcome to our new blog!
Spring has sprung for the School of Continuing and Professional Studies as we celebrate our Paralegal program, which just recently received its official programmatic re-approval from the American Bar Association. Also this spring, the Institute for Paralegal Studies marks its twentieth anniversary. We congratulate our many alumni and extend thanks to our dedicated and talented faculty. We know that current students in the program are thrilled about the renewed status as they go out on internships and compete for positions in some of Chicago’s finest law firms. Also this year, we continue celebrating the initial accreditation of our Bachelor of Science program in Clinical Laboratory Science from the National Accrediting Association (NAACLS). Clinical laboratory scientists have never before been in greater demand, and our graduating seniors this spring will be extremely competitive for open positions because of our Accreditation.
Later this spring, look for announcements of the School’s new academic programs, which will begin accepting new students in the Fall 2011 term: SCPS will begin offering a Bachelor of Science in Human Services, continuing the program from the College of Arts and Sciences. This degree in Human Services will be attractive to students who are seeking careers in the non-profit sector or to those who wish to pursue graduate studies in social work, psychology, counseling, or the law. SCPS is also pleased to collaborate with Loyola’s Institute for Pastoral Studies to create an accelerated program in Pastoral Leadership. This innovative program leads to a baccalaureate in SCPS and advanced standing toward a Master’s degree in Pastoral Studies or in Social Justice and Community Development. Keep watching this space, and other sections of the SCPS blog, as we introduce additional programs that engage students and meet employer needs.
Best wishes for a productive and profitable spring term!
Yours sincerely,
Janet Deatherage, Ph.D.
Dean
