The R Journal

I just found this (http://journal.r-project.org/) and found some great packages in the (few) issues that the group has published. It’s definitely worth checking out.

love the journal! although i was expecting it to only have been around for a year or two, it looks like they have been in business since 2001.

We haven’t talked much about the history of R and it’s definitely something I’m interested. In short, it has evolved out of S-Plus which has been around since the early 1980′s. Some folks have put some time into a nice Wikipedia page for R, too (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/R_(programming_language)#Milestones).

The R website (http://cran.r-project.org/) I believe has some background reading, too.
