As I ramble on about this and that, I just remembered a really interesting conversation I had at the Loyola Refugee Outreach bake sell. As I shouted, “Help out refugees in the Rogers Park community!” I over heard a teacher say, “There are refugees in Rogers Park?”
OF COURSE I had to stop him and explain to him what we were doing and how important it was to bring more awareness to our campus. If teachers at our school aren’t even aware of the work we’re doing through our class, how can we expect other students to know about it?
These next few weeks of refugee awareness are going to be really important and I’m actually excited about this topic and teaching it to others. This class really gets you excited about what you’re doing because it’s so hands on. I’ve been recommending Anth 301 to all my friends that are interested in anthropology and making a difference within our community.
