The Season of Commencement

Dear Loyola Community,

The appearance of the colorful tulips throughout our Lakeshore campus reminds us of the arrival of spring and the conclusion of the academic year. More importantly, it calls our attention to the season of Commencement and the opportunities to celebrate the accomplishments of our students, especially the 4,000 who will receive their degrees in May. Our recent Weekend of Excellence provided many events at which we witnessed and marveled at the academic accomplishments of students–undergraduate and graduate–who have excelled in research, experiential learning, visual and performance arts, interdisciplinary Honors community, and business and communications. We celebrated the contributions of our students and their work in student organizations, intercollegiate athletics, service, military and veterans groups, and campus ministry. As we now head toward graduation ceremonies, we will recognize all students and their accomplishments that will propel them toward careers, public service, and graduate or professional studies.  The university faculty and staff have my deep gratitude for their many contributions to the learning and development of these graduates. I am confident that professional commitments and cura personalis by our faculty and staff have helped tremendously to prepare these graduates to lead extraordinary lives. I look forward to seeing you at one of our commencement ceremonies.

Sincerely,

John Pelissero
