FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Loyola University Chicago to Co-Host
Second Annual Winter Festival
Polar Palooza Features Crafts, Activities, Local Vendors,
and Live Music
To kick off the holiday season, Loyola University Chicago, Rogers Park Business Alliance, Edgewater Chamber of Commerce, and Alderman Joe Moore of the 49th Ward present Polar Palooza, a two-day outdoor winter festival for Chicago’s north side neighborhoods.
Attendees of all ages will enjoy food from local restaurants, live music, ice skating, face painting, character meet-and-greets, shopping with local artisans, ice sculpting, and, on Sunday, a visit with a live reindeer.
Admission for the event is free. Activity tickets are $5 per person and will provide access to arts and crafts, ice skating on a synthetic rink, and face painting from 1–4 p.m. each day.
Polar Palooza attendees who attend the Loyola Ramblers men’s basketball game against Creighton University on Saturday, December 5, will receive $2 Polar Cash to spend at the festival. Men’s basketball tickets are available here.
In anticipation of the second annual event, Loyola and the Rogers Park Business Alliance will illuminate the CTA Loyola Red Line station and North Sheridan Road with thousands of lights. Light installation is underway and uses funds from the Sheridan Road Special Service Area and a voluntary contribution from Loyola to decorate dozens of trees along a half-mile stretch.
