Death of a Student

December 5, 2014

Loyola Community,

I am writing this note to let you know that a Loyola student was shot and killed this evening in a shooting near Albion and Lakewood. An earlier note went out about the shooting, however we had no specific information at the time.

The Chicago Police Department is working to contact the student’s family, so we are unable to share any further information at this time. Once the family has been reached, we will share more information about the student, as well as any service details.

Please know that Wellness Center, Campus Ministry, and Student Development staff members are available this evening, and beyond, to assist students in need. To speak with someone, please come to the Campus Ministry offices located on the second floor of the Damen Student Center. Staff members will be available until 11:30 p.m. in the office.

In addition, the Lake Shore Campus Wellness Center will be open on Saturday from 8 a.m. to Noon. To set up a time to meet on Saturday, please call the Dial-A-Nurse hotline at 773.508.8883.
