Loyola University Chicago Student Enterprise to Celebrate the Grand Opening of its Fifth Business
Ireland’s, a Student-Run Pub, Opens Friday on Loyola’s Lake Shore Campus

CHICAGO, November 13, 2014 – Loyola Limited, Loyola University Chicago’s undergraduate student-run and managed business enterprise, will open its fifth business, Ireland’s, with a grand opening celebration on November 14. Located within the Damen Student Center on the University’s Lake Shore Campus in Rogers Park, Ireland’s is Loyola’s first student-run pub and creates a new gathering space for students, faculty, and staff, as well as alumni and the surrounding community.

Ireland’s menu features pub-style food, including signature hot dogs, specialty sandwiches, and nachos. The pub also features an assortment of fountain drinks, wine, and local and national beers. Ireland’s hours of operation are: Monday–Friday, from 3–11 p.m. Wine and beer service is available from 5–10 p.m. each day.

In addition to bringing a new dining option to the Rogers Park and Edgewater communities, the pub provides employment and professional growth opportunities for 12 undergraduate students, as well as Loyola Limited’s executive team, which is comprised of students who oversee the business’s operations, finance, and marketing. All Ireland’s employees are 21 or older.

“Loyola Limited continues to empower undergraduate students to start and manage their own businesses, and Ireland’s is another product of the enterprise’s entrepreneurial mission,” said Hudson Hotaling, CEO of Loyola Limited. “We’re excited to offer the Loyola community, especially our graduate student population, a unique gathering spot on campus. We’re housed within the Damen Student Center, which was built with the student in mind and to serve as the central gathering spot on the Lake Shore Campus. We think the addition of Ireland’s really fulfills that vision.”

Ireland’s is named after George Ireland, coach of the 1963 Loyola men’s basketball team that famously won the NCAA national championship and competed against Mississippi State in the well-documented “Game of Change.”

“We think this is a nice way to honor the 1963 champs, who recently celebrated their 50th anniversary,” said Hotaling. “We are thrilled to have portraits, photos, and memorabilia related to the team in our new space.”
