Loyola University Chicago Hosts Grand Opening Celebration for Kenmore Plaza
Newly Created Plaza to Open with August 29 Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony
Loyola University Chicago President and CEO Michael J. Garanzini, S.J., and 48th Ward Alderman Harry Osterman will cut the ribbon on the newly created Kenmore Plaza, located in the 6300 block of North Kenmore Avenue. The plaza represents a 39,000 square-foot expansion of Loyola’s Lake Shore Campus and builds upon the University’s commitment to sustainability by featuring a new storm water management system, native plantings, and a meadow living-learning laboratory for students and visitors.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony will be followed by a cookout and live bluegrass music featuring local original members of Henhouse Prowlers. Attendees are also invited to participate in a self-guided tour of the plaza’s unique features and Loyola’s neighboring Institute of Environmental Sustainability.
