FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Loyola’s Annual Saturday of Service
As part of Loyola University Chicago’s 2010 Welcome Week, first-year students will team up with their peers and Welcome Week leaders for a day of service in the Rogers Park and Edgewater neighborhoods. This Saturday, the students will give back to the surrounding communities by participating in a variety of projects, including painting the CTA’s Granville viaduct, weed pulling along CTA walls and identified alleys, and a neighborhood clean-up effort in both Rogers Park and Edgewater.
Loyola has partnered with a number of community organizations and officials in order to make this day happen. The Edgewater Artists in Motion will oversee the students’ work at the Granville L stop and the Edgewater Beautiful Committee has identified the areas within the community that need assistance. Alderman Mary Ann Smith’s office will provide the students with the supplies for the neighborhood clean-up and once the day is finished, the students and leaders will gather at Berger Park for lunch by the lake.
