The event will feature Dr. Clemencia Ramirez Herrera, director of research at the Universidad de san Buenaventura in Bogota, Colombia, who will deliver the keynote address and participate in a discussion session.
Also presenting at the symposium are five of the graduate students who participated in the spring 2009 immersion trip to Colombia. Following the presentations, a discussion will take place between audience members and the full group of graduate students (representing the fields of law, education, psychology, and social work) who traveled to Colombia.

Loyola’s Center for the Human Rights of Children works hard to ensure that people understand, protect, and apply the human rights of children in the face of injustice and poverty of body, mind, and spirit. This symposium provides the perfect opportunity to engage the public in a dynamic dialogue that is based on the first-hand experiences of Loyola faculty and students who were immersed in Colombia this spring.
