McElroy Memorial Shakespeare Celebration Continues at Loyola

What:

Loyola University Chicago’s English department will present “Bangs & Whimpers: Some Scenes from Two Versions of Shakespeare’s King Lear” as part of the 13th Annual McElroy Memorial Shakespeare Celebration. Richard Strier, Ph.D., professor of English and the humanities, and Frank C. Sulzberger Professor of Civilizations at the University of Chicago, will lead a discussion about differences between the Quarto and Folio texts. Steve Scott of the Goodman Theatre will direct professional actors and Loyola theatre students.

Tuesday, April 6th at 7:30 pm

Where:

Loyola’s Kathleen Mullady Theatre in the Centennial Forum at the Lake Shore Campus, 1125 W. Loyola Avenue.

Background:

This event honors the late Bernard McElroy, a professor in Loyola’s English department who believed in the importance of performance as well as scholarship. A question and answer period and a reception will follow the performance.
