Pan-Decking

02.10.12

As most of you can see, the Alumni Student Center is starting to look like, well, a building! With the addition of steel beams both vertically and horizontally (called pan decking), we can now see the basement and first floor taking shape.

Crews will now spend about a month working on the basement of the Alumni Student Center in small sections. Heaters have been added to the basement section so that concrete work can happen and dry easily. Once they have finished that small section of the basement (plumbing, electric, concrete, etc.), the construction crews will move to another section of the first floor and work their way up to the second. The building will be going up in waves, and ultimately the construction will need to ‘fit’ like a puzzle.

Enjoy these latest photos….the photos with the funny looking “plugs” coming out of the ground insicate where plumbing lines will go for the dining hall. Neat, huh?
