Campus Safety is writing to inform you of an armed robbery that occurred at approximately 3:45 p.m. today (November 15) near Lakewood Avenue and North Shore Avenue.

Two Loyola students were walking in the area when they were approached by a man who displayed a handgun and demanded their belongings. The offender then ran to a vehicle that was parked nearby and fled. The vehicle is described as a metallic blue, four-door hatchback with an Illinois license plate.

Campus Safety is working very closely with the Chicago Police Department on this investigation. If anyone has information on the incident, please call Campus Safety at 773.508.6039 or the Chicago Police Department via 9-1-1. We also urge you to view the safety tips listed below.

  • When walking, always be alert and aware of your surroundings; keep your head up and don’t use a cellphone or other item that may distract you
  • If a person threatens you with a weapon, follow their demands and run away as soon as it’s safe to do so; once you are in a safe place, immediately notify the police, either 773.508.6039 for Campus Safety or 9-1-1 if off campus
