The Loyola University Chicago community mourns the death of Richard Costigan, S.J., former faculty member in the Department of Theology. Father Costigan, who spent 34 years as a member of the Loyola community and 62 as a member of the Jesuits, passed away on August 29.

During his time at Loyola, Father Costigan focused his studies on the history of ecclesiology and he also spent several semesters as a member of the John Felice Rome Center faculty. Prior to his time at Loyola, Father Costigan taught history and political science at Regis University in Denver.

Services are being held out of state. The University will host an on-campus memorial at a later date. We will post the memorial information on Inside Loyola and Rambler Buzz when it becomes available.

Condolences may be sent to the Jesuit Hall Community, 3601 Lindell Boulevard, St. Louis, MO 63108-3393.

Please remember this family in your prayers.
