Crime Alert – armed robbery near Bellarmine Hall

Loyola Community,

The Department of Campus Safety is writing to notify you about an armed robbery that took place late Monday night, near the Lake Shore Campus.

According to preliminary reports, around 10:30 p.m. the victim, a Loyola student, was walking in the alley behind Bellarmine Hall (6628 N. Sheridan Rd.) when an unknown male approached him and threw him to the ground. An unknown female in the company of the offender then put a knife to the throat of the victim and told him not to the move. The male offender then took the victim’s wallet and cell phone and both individuals fled north toward North Shore Avenue and then west on North Shore.

Reports describe the two offenders as:

  • Male, 5′ 8″, weight unknown, 20–30 years old; he was last seen wearing dark clothing with a beanie-style hat
  • Female, height and weight unknown, 20–30 years old; she was last seen wearing a light coat that appeared black/grey in color, and a knit hat

Loyola’s Department of Campus Safety is working closely with local authorities on this investigation, but if anyone has information on this incident or has seen the individuals in question, please call 9-1-1 and then the Department of Campus Safety at 773.508.6039.
