Crime Alert – shooting near State and Chestnut this morning
Loyola Community,
The Department of Campus Safety is writing to notify the Loyola community about a shooting that took place early this morning, near the Water Tower Campus.
According to preliminary information, around 5 a.m. the victim, who is not affiliated with Loyola, was near the intersection of State and Chestnut when he was approached by the offender who displayed a handgun and demanded the victim’s car keys. The victim refused and attempted to flee, and was shot in the thigh. The offender then fled west on Chestnut Street.
The Chicago Police Department is currently investigating the incident. If you have any information on this incident, please contact the Chicago Police Department via 9-1-1.
