Summer softball camps
The Loyola University Chicago softball staff will host a pair of summer camps in August. Open to individuals in grades 4-12, camps will be held at Loyola Softball Park (6336 N. Hoyne Ave.) from 9 a.m. to noon on August 19, and again on August 26.
Campers will have the opportunity to receive instruction from college coaches and players and learn more about the game. The camp is a tremendous opportunity to meet and interact with current members of the Loyola team and coaching staff. Each camp date will feature aspects of fielding, hitting, baserunning, and pitching.
Under the direction of 2011 Horizon League Coach of the Year Missy Beseres, the Loyola softball program won the Horizon League regular-season title last spring and this season reached the title game of the Horizon League Championship for the first time since 2004. In two seasons as a head coach, Beseres has mentored 10 All-Horizon League performers, including 2012 Horizon League Pitcher of the Year and National Fastpitch Coaches Association Second Team All-Great Lakes Region selection Brittany Gardner.
The cost for each camper is $75. For more information, or to register for camp, please contact Jeff Tylka at 773.508.2580 or jtylka@luc.edu.
