The Loyola community is cordially invited to a number of events this summer to honor Saint Ignatius of Loyola. As in past years, this commemoration will involve both service to others and a community celebration, as well as a new addition this year. Please plan to join members of the Loyola community for our annual Service Day (July 26), Mass in Madonna della Strada Chapel and a picnic on the Simpson parking lot (July 29), and the new Staff Retreat (July 29 & 30).

Service Day
On Tuesday, July 26, Loyola and Chicago Cares will partner to take on a number of painting and beautification projects at Cesar E. Chavez Multicultural Academic Center, located at 4747 S. Marshfield, in the Back of the Yards neighborhood. We are looking for a maximum of 85 faculty, staff, and retiree volunteers to participate in this project. To volunteer, click here. The registration deadline is Friday, July 22.

Mass and Picnic
On Friday, July 29, we will celebrate the Feast Day of Saint Ignatius of Loyola with a Mass in Madonna della Strada (MDS) Chapel at 11 a.m. and our annual picnic on the Simpson parking lot, beginning at 12:15 p.m. As always there will be food, games, and activities for all ages. For those interested in singing in the choir at Mass, please contact Steve Betancourt at sbetancourt@luc.edu. Rehearsal will begin at 10 a.m. on July 29 in the MDS Chapel.

Staff Retreat
This year Loyola is hosting its inaugural Staff Retreat on July 29 & 30 at the Loyola University Chicago Retreat and Ecology Campus. For full details, including registration information, please click here.

If you have any questions, please contact Abraham Cortes at acorte1@luc.edu or 312.915.6573.
