Health Reporting Class Visits Hospital

By Mason Dowling

Last Tuesday, February 19th, students from the School of Communication were given an inside look at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. Members of Bruce Japsen’s Health Reporting course met with hospital representative Julie Pesch, who educated them on the new hospital.

Having moved last summer from their previous location, Lurie Children’s Hospital has almost 300 beds to house patients from the Chicago area and beyond.

Students were able to meet with several health professionals, and had access to behind-the-scenes areas of the hospital, including some – such as the specially-built “Yellow Submarine,” themed MRI machine – that children and patients helped design into the hospital’s new location.
