Map: 10 Famous Movie Scenes in Chicago

Photo by James A. Finley / Associated Press

With its picturesque landscape and architecture, Chicago has become a landmark for movie scenes.

Two upcoming movies, “LOL” and “Superman: Man of Steel,” were (or will be) filmed in Chicago and will be released in the future. “LOL” will come out this spring, while the new Superman is set to be released June 14, 2013.

Chicago welcomes the publicity and the jobs that movies bring when they film there. After “Transformers: Dark of the Moon” was filmed in the city, NBC Chicago reported in 2010, “Since 1989, 900 films and TV productions have contributed more than 275,000 jobs and $1.6 billion to the local economy.”

While hundreds of movies have been filmed in the Windy City, these 10 have appeared in numerous articles by CBS Chicago and Chicago Magazine defining the “top” or the “best” movie scenes filmed in Chicago.

Take a look and see what local spots in the Second City have been featured. Click on the icons to find out more about the locations featured and the plot of the scenes, and to see a short video clip from the movies.
